FROM THE CEO

Without the expertise of Consult Australia members, Australia’s infrastructure and construction projects wouldn’t happen. It’s a statement we say regularly in the halls of power, and one worth repeating given the recent scrutiny on management consultants.

ADVOCATING FOR YOUR BUSINESS SUCCESS

Championing fairer contracting, insurance and business practices

Small business matters

Small businesses account for 97% of Australia’s consulting industry and our team is laser focused on advocacy and activities that make a difference to these businesses. Consult Australia’s Head of Policy and Government Relations Kristy Eulenstein has some recent wins to share.

Leading the charge for change

Meet Tasos Katopodis

Consult Australia’s new President, GHD leader Tasos Katopodis, has a strong sense of social justice and a desire to “give back” to our industry. "No other association is focused on advocating for consulting businesses."

Advocating for Victorian members’ interests

Clarity for confidence

Consult Australia’s Acting Victorian Manager Matthew Williams is leading conversations with the Victorian Government on a range of issues, from future pipeline and productivity to procurement practices. "Pipeline uncertainty is the big thing keeping our members awake at night."

Illuminating excellence

Last year, the Awards for Excellence set new records for submissions and gala dinner ticket sales. This year, as the program presents new and refreshed award categories, Consult Australia’s Head of Engagement Linda Gaunt has an invitation for the industry: “It’s your time to shine.”

Practical champions of change

Everyday sexism in the workplace – which 57% of women in the consulting professions still witness or experience – is the result of entrenched social and cultural conditioning. “But what’s learned can be unlearned,” said SMEC’s James Phillis in a powerful reflection on the progress of the Champions of Change Coalition.

Listen, learn and lead

Intractable problems aren’t solved through inertia. They take a determination to listen, learn and lead – and this is precisely what Consult Australia's Firm of the Year Jacobs and its leader Rich Hayers are doing. Jacobs took home the prestigious Firm of the Year award at our Awards in April 2023.

Lander & Rogers - Legislative changes through an insurance law lens

The last financial year saw several federal and state legislative and regulatory developments in Australia's construction sector, and more changes are ahead. Lander & Rogers' insurance law experts highlight key developments.
