Engineers Australia and Consult Australia signed a formal collaboration agreement in March. This partnership, focused on showcasing Australian engineering excellence globally, “puts our collaboration agreement into action,” says Consult Australia's Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Cartledge.
The partnership supports and celebrates Australian engineering leadership through the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
“Australia’s engineers are world leading and we are proud to be working with Consult Australia to share this excellence and continue strengthening our international relationships for the benefits of the engineering profession and businesses,” says Engineers Australia’s Chief Executive Romilly Madew.
Consult Australia has been a proud and active member of FIDIC since 1959. FIDIC represents more than one million engineering professionals and 40,000 firms in 100-plus countries worldwide.
FIDIC is a critical catalyst for global collaboration and ensures our member businesses and the profession have a strong voice internationally.
Australian engineering plays a critical leadership role in driving better outcomes through FIDIC platforms, including the FIDIC Global Leadership Forum, the Global Infrastructure Conference and Awards, and through FIDIC committees (and a full list of representation is available on the Consult Australia website).
In September, Consult Australia President Tasos Katopodis will lead an Australian delegation to FIDIC’s Global Infrastructure Conference in Geneva. The conference, running from 8-10 September, will bring together companies and professionals overseeing more than US$139 trillion in investments from now until 2050.
“FIDIC’s conference is an opportunity for us to highlight how Australian firms and engineers are delivering solutions to the world’s biggest challenges,” Jonathan notes.
FIDIC’s 2023 Global Infrastructure Conference drew the global focus on decarbonisation, climate change and nature positive infrastructure development. The 2024 conference presents a theme of ‘Transforming lives with infrastructure: Investing in and building a better world for all’.
“Australian engineering firms are world leading and we have powerful stories to tell about projects that set new benchmarks for quality, advanced technology and sustainability,” Jonathan says.
“FIDIC helps us to engage in meaningful international conversations that expand Australian opportunities on a global stage. We are excited to team up with Engineers Australia to amplify the success of our members and to broadcast their leadership to a global audience.”
