CFF24 is more than a conference. It’s a movement aiming to create a more sustainable and inclusive construction industry – an industry that can deliver the projects it is being asked to construct, when they are required and at a price that the nation can afford.
Drawing inspiration from the global influence of events like COP summits and the World Economic Forum, FF24 will see around 1,000 participants, including 100 influential leaders from government, private sector asset owners, industry (largely represented by industry associations), unions and academia for special group discussions, focusing on significant industry changes.
Alongside the targeted leaders’ discussions, FF24 will feature a broader plenary session open to everyone from across the industry. The plenary will feature a unique setup: a circular stage in the middle of the room, hosting TED-style talks and interactive discussions. This format will ensure that ideas and insights are shared broadly, creating a dynamic environment where everyone can contribute.
To set the stage for these conversations, the ACA has released several discussion papers.
The first discussion paper calls for establishing a common benchmark for success in the industry.
The second, Future Workforce, addresses the urgent need to attract and retain a diverse and skilled workforce, highlighting issues like the low representation of women (only 12%) and the broader challenge of appealing to new talent. With productivity at its lowest in 60 years and a high demand for workers, the industry needs to evolve and become a more attractive career choice for the next generation.
Two more papers, focusing on financial stability and a data-driven future, will be published soon. Feedback from these papers will directly influence the conversations at FF24, driving meaningful and lasting improvements in the construction industry.
All major industry associations will be represented at the event, including Consult Australia. The Australian Constructors Association is encouraging the entire industry to get behind FF24 using the event hashtag #FF24 which is already gaining momentum and providing a platform for stakeholders to engage in the conversation.
Just as the COP summit has become a key event for climate action, FF24 aims to go beyond traditional conferences by not just discussing challenges but actively pursuing tangible solutions. This event is expected to become an annual cornerstone for the industry, where progress is measured and frontiers are continually pushed. Will you be there at the start of this movement for change?
