Code of Ethics

code of ethics

As 2024 kicks off, Consult Australia launches a new resources kit to help members promote their ethical leadership.

Over the past 12 months, the values that drive a range of professional services have been under scrutiny. In this context, Consult Australia’s Code of Ethics is an important point of difference for every member.

“The Code of Ethics distinguishes the delivery of our members’ services relative to those provided by competitors that may not make the same commitment or lead collaboratively through Consult Australia membership,” says Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Cartledge.

Consult Australia has developed a Code of Ethics Resources Kit to help members promote their leadership. This includes:

Consult Australia’s commitment

Consult Australia’s commitment to the Code of Ethics is underpinned by a refreshed complaints and disciplinary procedures under the Consult Australia Constitution

“This demonstrates the clear point of difference of Consult Australia members in the marketplace,” Jonathan says. “The integrity provided by our Code of Ethics, underpinned by the accountability of our complaints and disciplinary procedures, supports a wide range of services.”

Supporting guide and Code of Conduct

Complementing the Code of Ethics is the Guide to Consult Australia activities and avoiding anti-competitive behaviour. This guide includes real cases, including in the building and construction industry, to bring this risk into focus.

Alongside the guide, the Code of Conduct is an essential document for representatives from member businesses that are involved more directly with Consult Australia, for example through participation in boardroom lunches and advocacy engagement with government.

“Clients are right to expect the businesses they contract with to act ethically and for Consult Australia, as the industry association representing businesses in design, advisory and engineering, to provide guidance to members. The joint commitment of the entire membership to these documents and the positive behaviours they support helps guarantee the long-term sustainability of our industry.”
