Consult Australia’s new strategic plan
Consult Australia has launched its 2025–2028 Strategic Plan – a bold and future-focused roadmap for an industry comprising more than 58,600 consulting businesses across Australia.
Centred on high-impact advocacy, professional leadership and strategic collaboration, the plan outlines how Consult Australia will continue to create value for members and shape the future of the built and natural environments over the next three years.
The strategy is grounded in a clear mission articulated across four strategic pillars: to lead impactful advocacy, amplify the industry’s voice, forge strategic partnerships, and foster consulting excellence that delivers better outcomes for clients
and communities.
The strategy was developed over 12 months with support and engagement from our members. This included more than 220 points of direct engagement with stakeholders across more than 100 firms and 13 external organisations.
The plan reflects this engagement and feedback with a commitment to:
- Maintain: Preserve the strengths of Consult Australia’s existing business model, continuing to deliver strong member value.
- Enhance: Evolve and expand services to increase relevance and impact, particularly through strategic partnerships.
- Innovate: Position Consult Australia as a recognised provider of professional education and consulting excellence, testing new models and partnerships that support long-term commercial sustainability.

Consult Australia President and Chair of the Strategy Committee, Natalie Muir, says the plan reflects a balanced and forward-looking approach.
“We are preserving the value we already deliver, building on our unique position as the sole voice for consulting businesses in the built and natural environments, and embracing opportunities that will shape the next phase of our evolution”.
The strategy also strengthens Consult Australia’s role as the industry’s knowledge gateway, leveraging the intellectual property, innovation and insight generated by member firms, and using member data, benchmarking and market intelligence
to influence policy and support advocacy.
Natalie adds: “We are focused on bold, high-impact advocacy that drives real change. We will continue to amplify our collective voice, foster meaningful partnerships and champion consulting excellence to elevate our professions.”
