NAWIC, the National Association of Women in Construction, has appointed Cathryn Greville as its new Chief Executive Officer. A qualified lawyer and company director, Cathryn has nearly 20 years’ experience working across environmental, social and governance and regulatory arenas, including in construction and the built environment.


Cathryn has recently returned from the United Kingdom where she led a program focused on organisational and sector-wide behavioural and cultural change. “The construction sector and the broader community have an incredible amount to gain by advancing gender representation and inclusion,” Cathryn says. “I am passionate about driving desperately needed and long overdue improvements to workplace culture and behaviours, ensuring women from all backgrounds and skill sets feel welcomed, supported and set up to thrive in their careers.”

RLB in New South Wales has launched a new Government Advisory Services capability with Louise Greenhalgh at the helm. With more than 20 years of experience in the built environment industry, Louise brings a skill set in risk and value management, and business change, honed through her work on complex construction projects across both public and private sectors in the United Kingdom and Australia.


“Louise is a strategic addition to our team who strengthens our advisory offering and complements our existing infrastructure and advisory services,” says RLB NSW Managing Director, Stephen Mee. SICE, a leading multinational company specialising in technology integration for public infrastructure management, has joined forces with Egis, a global leader in consulting, construction engineering, and operations and maintenance. This strategic partnership will allow Egis and SICE to deliver innovative transport solutions projects across New Zealand. The agreement was formally signed by Laurent Germain, Egis Group CEO, Alex Yee, Egis in ANZ CEO, Yosu Zubizarreta, SICE Australia General Manager and Adnan Meher, SICE ANZ Legal and Commercial Manager.

Rod Balding to lead Standards Australia

Rod Balding joins Standards Australia as Chief Executive Officer with extensive experience in finance, commercial and risk management sectors. He has made significant contributions to the not-for-profit sector through his involvement with the International Basketball Federation, the Women’s Basketball World Cup, the Australian Sports Foundation, and Basketball Australia. 

“Through our comprehensive selection process, we sought a leader who could not only meet our organisational goals but also harmonise with the exemplary efforts of our team. Rod possesses a genuine character and social purpose that aligns with our values,” says Standards Australia Chair Tracey Gramlick. Rod is looking forward to building upon “the long and proud history of the organisation and ensure that our standards continue to meet the evolving needs of our diverse community and industries”.

GHD welcomes Van Tang as CEO for APAC

Van Tang has been appointed GHD’s new Chief Executive Officer for the Asia Pacific region, effective 1 December. She will lead the company’s operations and 5,600-plus people in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.


A civil engineer with more than 25 years of experience, Van is currently GHD’s Executive General Manager of New Zealand Asia Pacific. Van says she is “inspired everyday by the culturally diverse, technically sophisticated and resilient people of GHD, and the skills and creativity we bring to our clients’ challenges.” Based in Adelaide, Van succeeds Ian Fraser who will take up a new role as GHD’s Chair in July 2025.


GHD has also appointed Andrew Morrison as the Australian Market Leader for Property and Buildings. Andrew succeeds Grellan Symes, who has transitioned to a new role with GHD. Andrew has 20-plus years of experience at GHD. Previous roles include operations manager for the Sydney region and national sub-sector leader for education and science.

A new building regulator for Victoria

Victorian Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny announced a new more powerful building and plumbing watchdog, Building & Plumbing Commission, in October to oversee the industries across the state.


Bringing together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Disputes Resolution Victoria (DBDRV) and the Domestic Building Insurance (DBI) function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA), the new regulator will deliver stronger protections for Victorian homeowners and create a new one-stop shop to regulate Victoria’s building and plumbing industries.

AECOM’s Buildings + Places team gets a boost

Andrew Tull has been appointed as Regional Business Line Director of AECOM’s 700-strong Buildings + Places business line in Australia and New Zealand. Andrew has been with AECOM for 24 years and has held the roles of Operations Director and Buildings + Places Group Director for Victoria and South Australia.


“AECOM’s breadth and depth of expertise and experience delivering premiere buildings and landscapes will play a key role in redefining our built environment to thrive in a low carbon future,” Andrew says. “I am excited to lead our multidisciplinary team and leverage our global expertise to support clients in delivering transformative and sustainable projects for communities across Australia and New Zealand.”

Tom Quinn has been appointed Non-Executive Director and Chairperson of pitt&sherry, succeeding Paul Hardy, who will retire by rotation after nine years of dedicated service. Tom’s distinguished career has earned him recognition as one of the top 100 engineers in Australia by Engineers Australia from 2010 to 2013. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow Engineers Australia and Fellow of Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. 


Dean Comrie, CEO of pitt&sherry, thanked Paul for his outstanding contribution to the company during a significant period of change. “Paul leaves a lasting legacy in shaping the company’s direction and culture, making an indelible imprint.”
