Sarah Witchell and Matt Figgis are WT’s new state directors, further strengthening the firm’s technical capability.

 

Joining WT in February 2026, Sarah Witchell is focused on the NSW healthcare sector, while Matt Figgis will lead WT’s public and civic sector in the ACT.

 

WT Chief Operating Officer Heidi Mitchell said the appointments reflect WT’s ongoing investment in senior leadership. “Sarah and Matt are outstanding additions to WT’s technical leadership team. Both bring deep sector expertise, proven leadership capability, and a strong alignment with our values.”

 

WT supports clients in Australia across property, construction and infrastructure with 500 specialists in portfolio and program advisory, cost management and quantity surveying, commercial advisory, carbon and sustainability, asset and facilities management, and digital solutions.

Arup has appointed Paul Williams as its new Asia Pacific Resources and Critical Materials Leader.

 

Paul brings over 25 years of experience to the role, and most recently served as Australian managing director of mining and energy for WSP. His appointment follows the transition of Joyanne Manning from the APAC Resources Leader role to her new leadership role of Arup's global resources business.

 

Tan Yoong Heng, Arup’s Energy, Water & Resources Leader in APAC said: “With Paul leading our APAC resources team, we are well placed to partner with industry to grow and help shape a more sustainable future for the sector.” 

 

Paul will be based in Melbourne but will work across the broader Asia Pacific to help mining, industrial and waste management clients achieve their net-zero and circular economy goals.

Tonkin + Taylor Group has a new CEO

Richard Hancy is the new Chief Executive of Tonkin + Taylor Group in Australia, succeeding Tim Chadwick, who will continue as a director on the Australian board and senior member of the Australian leadership team.

 

“Richard’s appointment reflects the bench strength of our Group and Australian leadership and our commitment to talent within Tonkin + Taylor,” says Tim Fisher, the group’s Managing Director. “Richard brings extensive consulting, Australasian and executive experience, which gives him the capability to execute our strategic growth ambitions in Australia.”

 

As Chief Executive, Richard will lead Tonkin + Taylor in Australia, Chadwick Geotechnics and Bligh Tanner. “We’ll remain focused on building trusted partnerships, collaboration and delivering exceptional work for our clients,” Richard says.

 

Tim Chadwick founded Chadwick Geotechnics in 1996 and sold the business to Tonkin + Taylor in 2006. “Leading Tonkin + Taylor in Australia has been an absolute privilege, and working alongside Richard through a well-planned transition gives me great confidence in the future,” he says.
