A different lens at the right moment

Meet our new state manager
“I like to do things where people win and business wins.” It’s a simple line, but it explains how Lyndall Rowe approaches her new role as Consult Australia’s State Manager for South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Lyndall is new to the infrastructure sector – and that is part of her strength. Her career spans small businesses, not-for-profits, industry bodies and governments, bringing a depth of experience that offers a different perspective on the challenges facing Consult Australia members.
That different lens has arrived at the right moment. Following the recent South Australian election, the return of the Malinauskas Government provides continuity “and an opportunity to maintain momentum on the issues that matter most to Consult Australia members,” Lyndall says.
Lyndall joined a Consult Australia NT Committee meeting just days into the role, and the SA Committee within her first weeks. From both meetings the key priority is engagement with the relevant agencies in transport, infrastructure, power and water on contract arrangements.
“The members I’ve met have been clear about how much they value the opportunity to directly engage with government and decision-makers on these issues – and it’s something they get through Consult Australia.”
From vines to infrastructure voices
While the infrastructure sector is new to Lyndall, advocacy work is familiar territory.
As the executive officer for Riverland Wine, Lyndall represented more than 900 growers and winemakers as floods, collapsing grape prices, the loss of key export markets and rising costs converged.
Lyndall’s role sat at the intersection of government, industry, media and members. “It was about influence and advocacy,” she says. “And about changing perception locally, nationally and globally.”
While the technical details may differ, the underlying challenge for Consult Australia is strikingly similar: aligning stakeholders, cutting through complexity, and delivering outcomes that work for people and businesses on the ground.
On the ground insights
Lyndall’s approach is also informed by her ongoing experience as a small business owner. Outside of Consult Australia, Lyndall co-runs a commercial grounds maintenance family business with more than 150 clients across government, commercial and community sectors.
“I have direct insight into the compliance hoops that small businesses need to jump through just to operate.” This perspective shapes her focus on practical outcomes and human connection.
A new series of boardroom lunches and targeted engagement opportunities are already in planning as Lyndall builds on what members say they value most: direct access to government and decision-makers.
For now, Lyndall is focused on listening, learning and nurturing relationships. “I like to see good outcomes for business that benefit people – and that’s what Consult Australia does so well.”
