An industry on the move

A doubling of award submissions. A CollabX conference confronting the industry’s big strategic challenges. A Future Leaders Program now hosted in three capital cities. Each points to the same thing: an industry on the move in 2026.

This year has kicked off with a string of strong signals, says Linda Gaunt, Consult Australia’s Head of Engagement. “From record award submissions to bold investments in our future leaders, the industry is stepping forward with energy and purpose.”

A record year for awards

Submissions for the Consult Australia Awards for Excellence have doubled in a year.

“This shows just how much pride our member firms are taking in their work. I’ve read every submission, covering everything from iconic projects to inspiring individual contributions, and it is clear that members see real value in the recognition that our awards bring,” Linda says.

With anticipation building for the upcoming Gala Dinner, the stage is set for a standout celebration. “Everyone is invited. Whether you’re coming with a table or attending solo, it’s a night where everyone belongs.”

CollabX: A Collaborative Exchange

The countdown is on for Consult Australia’s flagship government–industry conference. The two-day program brings together senior leaders from the Department of Defence, government and industry to examine shared challenges and explore new ways of working together.

This year’s agenda will span procurement reform, digital disruption, delivery models and strategic infrastructure investment.

“CollabX isn’t just another event on the calendar,” says Linda. “It’s a genuine forum for dialogue and a platform for partnerships to take shape. Our team can’t wait to bring the best CollabX in 2026.”

Date: 25-26 March 2026

Location: Hellenic Club, Canberra

Future Leader Program expands to Brisbane

A Brisbane-based cohort of Consult Australia’s Future Leader Program is planned, running in parallel with Sydney and Melbourne, subject to numbers.

“It’s a milestone for Queensland and a sign of the growing demand for structured leadership development in a very busy market,” Linda notes.

Now in its 18th year, the program brings together emerging professionals across disciplines to build confidence, capability and connection. Topics range from stakeholder engagement to emotional intelligence, digital transformation to negotiation.

At the heart of the Future Leader Program is a live group project, with the strongest real-world solution recognised at the Consult Australia Awards Gala.

Dates: 10 April-12 November 2026 (Thursday evenings, fortnightly)

Locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane

Details: Places strictly limited to 20 per city

Registrations: Register today with 10% off for three or more registrations.

Practical, proven in-house training

As firms face rising complexity in project delivery and contract administration, demand continues to grow for Consult Australia’s tailored in-house training.

Courses like Contracts for Consultants and Role of the Superintendent are among the most widely delivered programs in the industry, with options for in-person, online or hybrid delivery.

Training is available for all experience levels, from early-career professionals needing foundational knowledge, to senior staff seeking a refresher.

“What sets these sessions apart is our focus on real-world relevance,” says Linda. “They’re not off-the-shelf lectures. They’re shaped with each firm, tailored to your projects, and led by legal and industry experts.”

Looking ahead

The year has kicked off with a burst of momentum, Linda concludes. “It’s a positive sign of activity and shared ambition. And we’re just getting started.”
