Peter Colacino has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Constructors Association, effective 4 May 2026.

 

Most recently NSW Project Strategy and Delivery Leader in the Mott MacDonald Advisory Team, Peter has been an NEC Contract Ambassador for Australia and New Zealand and was Chief of Policy and Research at Infrastructure Australia for more than four years.

 

He will build on the ACA’s reform agenda, translating strategy into outcomes across the construction sector.

 

Peter succeeds Jon Davies, who will step down after six years and remain with the association until June to support the transition.

 

ACA President Annabel Crookes paid tribute to Jon: “He has played a foundational role in establishing the ACA as a trusted partner to government and a leading advocate for industry reform. He leaves the association in a strong position, with a clear strategy and real momentum for change.”

Greg Steele steps back

Greg Steele has announced his departure from Arcadis, following 11 years with the firm.

 

Most recently Chief Growth and Commercial Officer and a member of Arcadis’ executive leadership team, Greg closes a 43-year career spanning senior roles across Australia and the global business.

 

He led Arcadis’ global mobility business and Asia Pacific operations, and contributed to industry bodies including the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and Engineering Aid Australia, and will now take a break before his next chapter.

WGA to join AtkinsRéalis

Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec has entered into an agreement to join Canada’s AtkinsRéalis, marking the next phase in the firm’s growth across Australia and New Zealand.

 

WGA’s Joint Managing Director Ben Stapleton said the deal will connect his firm’s 800-strong regional team “to broader technical expertise, global opportunities and investment, supporting the next phase of our growth.”

 

Ian L. Edwards, President and Chief Executive Officer of AtkinsRéalis says: “Australia is a priority market for us, where we are rapidly building scale and capability. WGA has deep regional expertise, strong client relationships and highly regarded capability across sectors that are closely aligned with our own.”

 

The transaction is subject to shareholder, court and regulatory approvals.

Mark Fairweather eases into semi-retirement

After more than three decades shaping infrastructure across Queensland and beyond, Mark Fairweather is stepping into semi-retirement, following a 10-year tenure with HDR, including nearly a decade as Managing Director.

 

A respected figure in transport and infrastructure delivery, Mark’s career spans senior roles at AECOM and the Department of Transport and Main Roads. He will continue to contribute to the sector through selective consulting and advisory work.
