There are three types of Consult Australia membership available:

  1. Full Membership
    Available to firms that provide consulting services in the built and/or natural environment and which are primarily run by professionals.
  2. Associate Membership
    Available to any firm or business that is engaged in work with the built and/or natural environment but does not provide consulting services.
  3. Affiliate Membership
    Available to Government Agencies and Authorities.

Eligibility

Full Membership is available to businesses that provide consulting services in the built and/or natural environment and which are primarily run by professionals (i.e. those who are members or eligible to be members of a professional institute with a code of ethics). Examples of eligible firms include engineers, architects, planners, quantity surveyors, environmental scientists and project managers.

Cost

Membership of Consult Australia is corporate, so the advantages of membership are afforded to all staff. The cost of membership is therefore based on the number of full time equivalent (FTE) staff in the company across all offices.

Membership fees are pro-rated from the time of joining to the end of financial year with renewal then due on 1 July each year. They are calculated based on the below table:

Eligibility

Associate Membership is open to any firm or business that is engaged in work with the built and/or natural environment but does not provide consulting services. Examples of business types that would be eligible for Associate Membership include; contractors, suppliers, recruitment firms, non-professional businesses, banks, universities, management consultants, research consultants, lawyers and IT consultants.

Firms eligible for Full Membership cannot opt for Associate Membership.

Associate Membership is charged in three tiers based on full time equivalent staff numbers as below:

They are however not entitled to submit entries for the annual Awards for Excellence, participate in benchmarking activities, vote at the Consult Australia AGM or hold a place on any Committee or Roundtable (State/Territory, Policy or Governance).

Membership term

Membership of Consult Australia is Annual (1 July – 30 June) and is paid in a single payment (at 1 July).

New members

New members will be charged a membership fee based on pro-rating of the Annual subscription through to the end of the current financial year in their first year of membership and will then be billed in accordance with the membership term (as above).

Annual renewal

Membership Renewal invoices will be issued in May/June each year with an opportunity offered to members each April/May to update their details prior to invoices being produced. Details may also be updated at any time throughout the year but will not have a prorated effect on the fee.

Resignation

Resignations must be in writing and received 30 days prior to the end of the current membership period however resignations received within 30 days of receipt of the Renewal Invoice will also be accepted. Resignations received outside of this time will be applied to the next annual membership period (i.e. membership will not be pro-rated or refunded). Non payment of membership invoices does not constitute resignation.

Default

If the member defaults in payment of any invoice/account when due, all outstanding amounts become due and payable and are also subject to all recoverable costs.
