Join us for a members-only Breakfast Q&A Session with Don Matthews, Local Jobs First Commissioner, to discuss where consultant firms in the Engineering and Built Environment are placed within the Local Jobs First Act, and what considerations need to be made to accommodate these new requirements on Industry.

In August 2018, the Local Jobs First Act was enacted by the Victorian Parliament. The Act enshrined the Victorian Industry Participation Policy (VIPP) the Major Project Skills Guarantee (MPSG) and established the role of the Local Jobs First Commissioner.

As such, Don Matthews was appointed the role of Local Jobs First Commissioner.

The Commissioner’s role is to advocate on behalf of Victorian SME’s, as well as to promote the employment of apprentices, trainees and cadets on government projects. His office also oversees compliance of local content and job commitments entered into as part of the contractual arrangements for project delivery.
