SA Industry Breakfast: The North South Corridor

Our Speaker

The Hon Stephan Knoll MP

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government

Minister for Planning

The North-South Corridor is identified in the following strategies as one of Adelaide’s most important transport corridors - the South Australian Planning Strategy including the 30 Year Plan for Greater Adelaide, the Strategic Infrastructure Plan for SA and the Integrated Transport and Land Use Plan. It will be the major route for north and south bound traffic, including freight vehicles, running between Gawler and Old Noarlunga, a distance of 78 kilometres.

The Australian and South Australian Governments are working collaboratively to expand the route by creating a dedicated non-stop North-South Corridor.

On 15 December 2019, after reviewing the initial business case, and on advice from Infrastructure SA, the SA Government announced the establishment of a Program Management Office (PMO) within the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) in early 2020.

This event will inform our industry on the future plans regarding the North South Corridor, to ensure our local businesses have capacity and capability to deliver not only on the final pieces of the corridor inclusive of River Torrens to Anzac Highway and Anzac Highway to Darlington, but also earlier additional planning, geotechnical work and the like needed to be undertaken. It is imperative our industry is able to  understand the future rollout of this massive project – from timings, funding and design to the Government’s view on any packaging of works to encourage more innovative solutions, timely delivery, increased efficiencies and local industry participation.

We invite you to join us to understand how our industry, which is playing a crucial role in the development and delivery of major projects across the State, can assist the Government in delivering the optimal outcome for this, South Australia’s largest infrastructure investment to date.

We envisage a general update on the pipeline of projects will also be included in this discussion.
