Consult Australia and FutureNet's
Striving for Mentally Healthy Workplaces Breakfast

Friday, 13 September

The establishment of Consult Australia’s Mental Health Ambassador Network is the key recommendation in a report recently released on the topic, titled Striving for mentally healthy workplaces.  This report discusses the range of challenges relating to mental health in the workplace and across our broader society, and highlights how a focus on workplace culture that is championed by leaders can help remove the barriers for an individual to seek support.  The report also shares a number of successful initiatives on improving mental health in the workplace by Consult Australia member firms and in other sectors, and concludes by outlining how Consult Australia can help promote best practices across the broader industry.

Consult Australia’s Mental Health Ambassador Network is made up of 18 senior leaders and managers from consulting firms who provide advisory, design and engineering services for the built environment.  The network has been established to help drive a cultural change across the broader built environment industry on our approach to mental health, with the ambassadors collectively focusing on:

  • Challenging the notion that mental health is a closed topic;
  • Openly tackling mental health stigmas;
  • Providing insights on their own personal experiences managing any mental health concerns and/or maintaining their mental health and wellbeing; and
  • Promoting what businesses and industry can do to create mentally healthy workplaces.

The breakfast will include a number of engaging speeches and a facilitated panel discussion on the impact of mental health on society and for individuals, the value of mentally healthy workplaces, and the benefit of an industry-wide approach to tackling mental health stigmas and improving practices. Attendees will leave with an impactful message on why mental health matters.

Our panelists are:
