Liability and Contracts Roundtable Review

The Liability and Contracts Roundtable is a long-standing Consult Australia committee. It is the primary thought-leadership group on contracting and liability issues. Over time the priorities have evolved with significant procurement issues emerging, such as the cost of tendering, access to government contracts, risk allocation etc. To that end the Board has asked for a review of its terms of reference, objectives and membership. If you have some feedback that you would like considered as part of the review, please contact Nicola Grayson.

Professional Indemnity Policy Extensions Guidance

Consult Australia is finalising a new Practice Note to provide members with guidance on types of policy extensions available to standard PI cover, which purport to provide additional cover for contractual liabilities, that would otherwise be subject to policy exclusions. These need to be explored carefully in terms of their value. Look out for the Practice Note in the next edition!

Tel Aviv leads the global 'smart city' transition

Smart cities, digital cities, virtual cities—connected cities are smart (thoughtful and people-centric), digital (driven by data acquisition, measured and analysed) and virtual (experiential). This focuses on building cities which are connected, creating more potential interactions between people and their place. Tel Aviv established itself as an urban laboratory, to test city projects which combined public and private sector efforts, start-ups and university centres. More information on Tel Aviv's transformation into a 'smart city' can be found here and here.
